Q & A with Jacob

What has been the biggest challenge in your career so far?

Transitioning from a junior athlete into a senior athlete. After turning 18 I got distracted and fell out of serious training for two years. Moving to Melbourne in November 2017 I decided it was a fresh start and time to get back into the sport I love and see where I can take it.

Tell us about your workouts. How do you train for this sport?

Majority of my training is on the track and in the gym. Obviously, sprinting is a key aspect to this, but also training in the gym is equally as important for me. This pre season we have also implemented a Pilates class once a week, boxing sessions and pool sessions.

How important is nutrition to you and how do you manage it?

Nutrition is something that I have really worked on in the last 12 months and believe it is vital at an elite level to have a great nutrition plan with input from a few resources.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Ideally, in 5 years I’d like to be a full-time athlete and member of the Australia Athletics Team.
